I'm Having a Hard Time!

November 21st, 2006 at 03:19 pm

I'm having a hard time of not spending money. I decided to cook on Thanksgiving- just for my nephew and I. We are going to stay home and watch DVDs and the Thanksgiving Parade. I had a free lunch today- business lunch. I had crab cakes and homemade slaw and a salad. I drank iced tea and some water- made sure I had the water. I walked 10 blocks in downtown Louisville.

well, maybe if you look at it in a different way other than just not spending money. make it a different kind of challenege. perhaps one week you and your nephew each have to come up with a list of free activities you can do together over the next month. person with the longest list gets out of a chore like taking out the trash. mayb the next week you two compete to see who can come up with the most viable recipes to try for a month. again, have a free but enticing reward for the winner.

I agree with Tina, try alternatives and maybe after Thanksgiving you guys will find that you love cooking

It gets easier. I have begun to love the challenge of finding things to do even around the house that doesn't take much money. When we were in college, our big spend was a used book (25cents back then), a donut apiece or ice cream cone, or a midnight matinee movie (about 1.00). We've returned to those days and try to find inexpensive ways to have a treat and keep busy. I love having the money leftover--that part is addicting! Good luck on finding what works for you. Don't be too hard on yourself.
