I have alloted $25.00 a week for groceries so that I can pay off my taxes. Here are my menus:

Friday-
Homemade burritos( with lentils and bulgar wheat), corn, refried beans
Sabbath-
( Lunch at church)
Spagetti, homemade garlic bread, apple-crisp bars

Sunday -
B-Fast, Eggs& cheese omelet, fruit
Lunch- Sandwich, carrot sticks with ranch dip
Supper- Red beans & rice, sweet corn bread
Monday- Grilled cheese, tomato soup, crackers
Tuesday- lentil burgers, oven-seasoned fries, peach cobbler
Wednesday- Tuna melts, baked beans, applesauce & cinnamon
Thursday- Fried tators, peas, swiss steak cuts.

Breakfasts for most days are oats or homemade granola.
We drink tea, water and chocolate milk. I have to have soy milk.

You can do it! That is what I budget for food too, and it is possible.

How many people do you feed on that $25 a week?

Mmmm ... I love Swiss Steaks! I haven't had any in years. I need to check at our local ABC store to see if they still carry them. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

It sounds like you've got a pretty good menu plan.

I feed myself, my 19-yr-old, who eats like 2 people, and have leftover for lunch-sometimes- it depends on what I fixed the night before- I own my own private-label line of Amish jams, pickles, salsas, fruit salsas, and sorghum, so I don't have to go out and buy those things. I get homemade yeast rolls from the Mennonite bakery I used to work at every Friday, to go with the meals. I buy bulgar wheat from the co-op and split a 50-Ib bag of potatoes with my mom. I'm lucky, in that I merchandise across the state, so I can find different deals in different areas. I do have $50.00 a month that I stockpile with, for example, this week peanut butter is $1.00- its usually $1.49 or more- even at our Save-A-Lot, so I'll buy even for 6 months( 12 jars) this saves almost $6.00, so, in the long run, doing this every month, puts back the $50.00, plus adds more food. We raise a huge garden- will be planting early next month.

I like Spagetti........Sicily Yoder well nice goal but how many weeks you will be on this goal???? I mean 25 a week.

I' had planned on being on it several months- just to see what I can pay off. But I didn't do too well today- bought Pepsi and ate out, so it is hard to do. For someone who travels slot, it is hard to do- but it was an idea. But, I have other resources in which I am blessed with too- like interviews and appearances that include dinner and lunches, so I get alot for free, being an author/actress. So maybe it will work on $50- but $50 is still good.
