Sales

June 2nd, 2013 at 05:05 pm

I've been saving a lot of money on sales. Dollar General had Ruffles chips for 3 for $5.00. I make homemade dip, which the kids love. Got Miracle Whip for $1.69 and Mayo for $1.79 at Save-A-Lot.

I can only spend $55 a month on Momma because of SSI rules. Therefore, I have started couponing again. But I do make most stuff from scratch. Heinz Ketchup was $1.00 for the large bottle with my coupon last week. I bought six bottles. I bought six each of Miracle Whip and Mayo. That's enough to do us until the holiday baking season. Tuna was .69 at Save-A-Lot. I bought ten. We eat a lot of tuna.

This week's coupons weren't that good, so I didn't buy a paper.

I hope you seeing coupons on-line for items you plan to buy. It's important to create a menu plan using items at hand and the sale specials on your most travelled routes. For example, if chicken is on sale, you may as well buy chicken and make side dishes like pasta, rice, potato and two vegetables to support it. If you have baked chicken on Sunday, you'll likely get two more meals and lunches. Only pick foods you like and will eat. I read we're all throwing out too much food. So expensive and so waseful

So true about the waste. I just had leftover stuffing yesterday and today to avoid wasting it. I got a 12-pack of large croissants at Kroger and have been eating them with meals (I only buy them when they are in the clearance cart.) Pork lion was very cheap, so we had it at Mom's house for my birthday dinner last night. I am having hand-breaded and baked chicken tenders for dinner and using leftovers in a salad tomorrow.
